Overview
This policy explains how the ScrollShield iPhone app and this website handle information. ScrollShield is designed to work locally. The app does not send your steps, activity ledger, Screen Time selection, or app-use sessions to us.
The short version: the iPhone app reads a step total from Apple, stores the information it needs on your device, and uses Apple’s private Screen Time controls for the apps you choose.
Data used on your device
Motion & Fitness step totals
With your permission, ScrollShield asks Apple Core Motion for the number of steps recorded from the start of the current day. The app uses that total to calculate earned minutes at a rate of 100 steps per minute.
ScrollShield does not request location permission, use GPS, or collect a route.
Local activity ledger
ScrollShield stores daily step totals and the number of minutes you choose to use in local app storage. This powers the Today, weekly, and monthly progress views. The app keeps up to 400 recent daily records on your device.
Screen Time selections and sessions
Apple’s Family Controls picker represents the apps, categories, and websites you select with opaque tokens. ScrollShield stores those tokens in its private shared app container so the app and its Screen Time extensions can apply your choices.
Those tokens do not reveal the selected names to us. ScrollShield does not receive your browsing history, the content you view, or a list of the other apps on your phone. Session state—such as whether a shield is active, minutes granted, and local session timing—is also stored on your device.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, ScrollShield may create local notifications about earned time or session status. They are scheduled on your device; there is no ScrollShield push-notification server.
What we do not collect
The ScrollShield app does not collect or transmit:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or an account profile.
- Precise or approximate location, GPS routes, or places visited.
- Browsing history, messages, photos, or content viewed in selected apps.
- Advertising identifiers or data for cross-app tracking.
- Product analytics, third-party crash analytics, or advertising data.
- Payment details or purchase history. The current app does not offer an in-app purchase flow.
We do not sell personal information or share app data for advertising.
Your controls
- Review or change selected apps: open ScrollShield and use the selected-apps control.
- Reset progress history: open ScrollShield Settings, then choose Reset progress history. Today’s step total remains because iOS supplies the current total again.
- Change permissions: use iPhone Settings to change Motion & Fitness, Screen Time, or notification access.
- Remove local data: deleting ScrollShield removes its app data from your iPhone.
Because the app does not upload this information to us, we cannot view, recover, or delete a copy on a server.
