100 steps = 1 minute
Your current-day step total creates time you can choose to use.
Nothing opens automatically
Choose a session length when you are ready to use earned time.
No account required
The current version is free and has no in-app purchase flow.
Selections stay private
Apple gives ScrollShield opaque tokens, not readable app names.
Getting started
- Open ScrollShield and continue through the short introduction.
- Allow Motion & Fitness so iOS can provide today’s step total.
- Allow Screen Time, then choose the apps or categories you want to make more intentional.
- Walk with your iPhone. ScrollShield earns one minute for each 100 recorded steps.
- On Today, choose how many available minutes to use when you are ready.
Troubleshooting
My steps are not updating
- Open iPhone Settings and confirm that Motion & Fitness access is enabled for ScrollShield.
- Keep your iPhone with you while walking; ScrollShield uses the step total recorded by iOS.
- Reopen ScrollShield and allow a moment for today’s total to refresh.
- If it still does not update, restart the app and then your iPhone.
The apps I selected are not paused
- Open ScrollShield Settings and confirm Screen Time shows as connected.
- Open Selected apps, make a selection, and close Apple’s picker to save it.
- If Screen Time needs attention, use the button in ScrollShield Settings to open iPhone Settings and allow access.
Apple controls Screen Time authorization. ScrollShield cannot apply a shield when that permission is denied.
My available minutes look different than expected
ScrollShield calculates today’s available balance as earned minutes minus the minutes you chose to use. Every 100 recorded steps earns one minute, and each day begins with a fresh usage balance.
I want to stop an active session
Open ScrollShield and end the active session. Your selected apps return to their paused state; ending early does not add the chosen minutes back to today’s available balance.
I want to reset my progress history
Open ScrollShield Settings, find Data, and choose Reset progress history. Saved prior days are removed. Today’s current step total remains because iOS supplies it again.
I am not receiving notifications
Open iPhone Settings, choose Notifications, then ScrollShield, and allow notifications. Notifications are optional and are created locally on your device.
Privacy and accounts
Can ScrollShield see which apps I select?
No. Apple’s Family Controls picker turns your choices into opaque tokens. ScrollShield stores those tokens on your device so its Screen Time extensions can apply your selection. They are not uploaded to us.
Does step tracking use my location?
No. ScrollShield reads a step total from Apple Core Motion. It does not request location permission, use GPS, or collect a walking route.
Do I need an account or subscription?
No. The current version does not require an account and has no in-app purchase flow. Your activity data stays on your iPhone.
For the complete details, read the ScrollShield privacy policy.
